Here's a few things to toss about..........

Put some aluminium sheeting on that thing to give it that WoO/Modified look or at least a front wing to get those front tires to bite.

And/or enlarge the steering column cover in all directions (down towards the front tires to cover your size 13's, out to the sides to cover your legs, and up to get the air to travel past your ol big shoulders and head better. This will downright nail the car down. Make it adjustable by putting slots front to rear in it, and large washers under it on the bolts for tilt.

Put a cowling over the motor that comes to the top of your head ala those F-1 single seaters.

Ever thought about getting one of those ski-racer helmets with the teardrop shape?

Rework the the rear axle so the left rear is farther ahead than the right which will make it turn left all by itself.

Get a taller right front tire and a wider right rear which will also help you turn left.

Grove the rear tires on a slant for better bite. I think it's left side forward.

Put jack-screws on the rear axle and crank the right rear up along with a small wing over the right rear tire ala the Zippy-Offset.

Move the seat to the left a few inches.

Put some adjustable weight down low. Weld on some eighth by one by whatever length with holes in it for bolting the weights on. Even a little movable weight down low will change the handling.

Use four bathroom scales as a cheap alternative to real ones.

Of course it's all about power/weight ratio but even a small wing over the right front would help.

Build a miniature wind tunnel for tuning the chassis set up

Cutting and then re-welding a bit out the left rear won't cost hardly anything..

Jack-bolts wouldn't cost that much.

Grooving the tires is just a power saw set at about a quarter deep. Might want to use a wide composite type grinder blade. Even tilt the saw a bit to get more of cut in to the dirt.

Moving the seat and bring the steering over a bit has got to be cheap. Might not have to move the wheel at all.

As for a steering column cover....Cut apart a new metal trashcan. Same with a rear cowling and other wangs. They've already got ribs in them for strength and the cheaper the better cause that means less weight.

Now that there wind tunnel would probably get expensive, and I can't imagine tires and wheels are too cheap either.

Beer money will be like contingentcy money. The higher you finish, the more beer you get. I'll bring a 24 pack for Crit and other friends but you've got earn yours. Will have to talk with Crit about how it will be doled out.

And Ray.....Resting on your laurels is not the way to repeat.

Loose is fast. By getting more down-force on the front you'll be looser.

And, by grooving the tires you'll get more forward bite coming off which will mean faster speeds on the straight.

had a chance to buy a racing kart once.....awsome looking thing....ran on alky,with the engine sitting right at your right shoulder.
but you didnt set in it,you were lying down almost.
couldnt turn the motor over by hand...had to use a air powered starter to get the thing running.


passed it up at $250.00 american.


2 reasons.......

1.i like beer way too much.
2.the future widow would have never gone for it.....

Yuppers on the future widow thing....I had a stretched out 700cc rear-engine three-wheel sand buggy built by SkiDo that was about the most insane thing I ever drove. I wasn't married at the time but it was definately an accident waiting to happen

Well now ya know, if they ain't fast, and they ain't scary, they ain't FUN!! Sounds to me like we are starting on on the low side for the beers, might keep me going for that race day, so long as we don't have to direct drive it and push start , oh, and a nice reclining lawn chair would be nice. Oh, and a wide brimmed hat to keep the sun off me would help.

Somebody did that with vinyl down in Vegas and it blew the sides of the truck out. Up in Wyo there was a guy who put one on a trailer and rented it out....Hot Tub One....and you had to reserve it over a month in advance.
