Nice here so far, but storms are coming in the distance. John got his weather radio so we feel a lil more secure when storms come in case DISH or power goes out. Our "prodigal" son called too-that made John REALLY happy.

No Qwest DSL for me. It goes out into the country 3 miles, I'm 7.5 miles out. Guy that called to tell me - his name is Elroy ! I almost started laughing , never even talked to an Elroy that I can remember.

I'm fairly happy with this connection Double EE. Just tested it and for the moment it's at 600kbs....almost 11 times faster than dial-up....must be a lot of users on because I've seen it as high as 1.3 megs. It's part of a Motorola Canopy system. It's used all over the world in remote locations. Search for Motorola Canopy with your town in there. Might turn up a match.
There is one in Sioux Falls, Berca, and there are some on a few reservation in the Dakota's. I'm paying 40 a month. Mighta been a small install charge, don't recall....anyways, check it out

Thanks 71 I will check it out. Just glad I didn't cancel this one before the install of Qwest.

Yah, a couple years ago when Foghorn was working for them they started crunching the bucks, all expansion came to a screeching halt. Many of their plans took on a different hue as did the position she had, turned it into one she didn't like. Coops and REA's have done a pretty good job of bringing the rurals into the world of computers.

Bummer about Wild Blue is the install charge....it's huge...and unless ya go with the more expensive package you're only going to get 560k's anyways.....it's enough to watch basic video but ya gotta wait on high content stuff. Same deal with directtv's sister company.
