So many comments about the poor shivering fans sitting in the bleachers at Daytona and the drivers freezing inside the car in 40 degree weather on the Thursday night Twin Qualifier races for the 500 while i was stuck at home in -16 degree weather. My question is : If something is'nt broken then why try to fix it ? All the many, many, many, many years that everyone was so delighted with the twins being held in the nice comfortible daytime sunlight may i be so humble as to ask why was it necesary to upset the apple cart by dreaming up longer versions of these mostly uneventful races in the cold night air ? As one that was chilled in the evening air at St.Augustine,East Bay,and Volousa sitting with winter Carhart clothing on watching the wide open excitment of dirt late models engaged in REAL racing,i just cant imagine how bad it would be to endure the boredom of a cup race at a race the cars are so similarly governed such as the rented fare at the local pay to ride Go-Cart amusement tracks are. Perhaps the night races are designed to mask the fact that there are so many empty seats at the cup tracks these days ? Is'nt amusing how they now have random rows of seats painted every color of the rainbow painted on the backs so that the untrained eye would at the quick scan of the TV camera assume that it is actual fans filling up every seat to capacity ? These races are laughable because of all of the provisional spots that put almost everybody in the field anywway !
