I heard that rumor also, sounds like a good place for Smoke fans to actually get close to him.

Yea. And I forgot to update the thread, but it now is no longer a rumor but is now confirmed that he will be there driving a late model in the feature. That is awesome, I hope to go over that day; but just will have to take the whole day off from work to get there early enough... Back to the rumors.lol I also heard (that since this is shortly before the 2nd NHIS race) that he may be attempting to qualify for the innagural ACT NHIS race. This is the first time the ACT late models will take their tour to Loudon, and it's part of the racing festivities on Saturday of that weekend. That is a huge honor for that series to be a part of that weekend. May even be on TV?
Also, since this-it has been announced that David Ragan will also race at Thunder Road this summer. And, Darrell Waltrip and Richard Petty (on separate nights) will be at TR for fan meet+greets. This is TR's 50th anniversary year so they are really doing it up.
On a side note, I just heard that Kenny Schrader will be at our own Airborne this summer in a modified-on our NEW track. That should be cool too.

Yea Jim, I've actually invited beedie to Airborne once before. Way back in the active 4m days when he was running his mouth (no not him, right?lol) about being a racing expert, etc. I invited him to the track, offered to buy him a pit pass and entry fee to race that night; along with a legal 4 cyl race car so he could race against me and my buddies to show us how it's done. I thought that was a nice offer, no? Needless to say he never responded, much less showed up! Maybe this time he could show up and hop in a 358 Modified (although I can't pay for all that lol) and show Schrader how it's done... Yea right!

Smoke, Schrader and Kenny Wallace are all part owners of the local dirt track here. Macon Speedway. They'll all be there a couple of different nights to do some racing this summer. They usually bring another NASCAR driver or 2 along with them.

You folks are in luck.
I'll be headed to Thunder Road Thursday night to watch Smoke run in the Governor's Cup 150.
I film all of the racing at Thunder Road and post tons of it to my website. You can find the link in my signature.
I'm very excited. Crowd size is estimated to be around 10,000 people that night!
Estimating 40 - 50 late models showing up. This race is a Qualifier for the New Hampshire ACT Invitational race in September at Loudon!
This is probably going to be on of the wildest nights in racing!
Can't wait!

Well, Stewart didn't fare so well at Thunder Road. He finished 16th, not on the lead lap in the 150 lap event. Although I did not go, I listened online at racetalkradio.com. Sounded like he really had his hands full; he caused a couple cautions and even went around a time or 2 himself. Hats off to the local drivers for proving once again why they are some of the best late model drivers in the country.
