It's totalled. Enjoy your new one if they don't devalue your present one so far that you can't get a new one.

that's just it....
....the one we 'have' is blue book valued at between 15,000 and 19,000....most new ones are 4-10,000 more than that...
*sigh*
It was the one thing, besides my junk piece of excursion, that we actually own outright...
oh well....could be worse....

If the insurance company can save 5 grand, they will.
and, remember this....
But sir, it was an extremely well kept trailer.
You're kidding me?
ha ha ha ha ha.....You've got to be joking?
No. We need the trailer fixed, or we need replacement value. Even high blue book is just not enough.
Good luck.

Ya know Chrissy, Construcyion of a travel trailer, Motor home or whatever is really simple! Might look at taking what they give you and doing the repairs at home. I saw the pics of it and I really believe that it is within your families capability. RV repairman are making a killing on this kind of stuff.
Just a thought!!

Well, my guess is they will try to convince you to total the trailer and accept an offer less than 10G's. Might even try to convince you that X amount is all the company will offer for payoff or repair, and possibly that you only have so long to accept the offer.
Personally, I would tape record the whole conversation. Maybe via a cellphone set on speaker calling a recording device at another location. Any pressure the agent puts on you to accept a lowball offer will be extremely damaging in court if it goes that far.
Stick to your guns but DO NOT mention going to court. That'll just tork em. If the agent refuses to negotiate up to what you need, tell him you've got to think about it and then huddle up with trusted advisors about what to do next.
Having your FIL hanging around is probably a good idea.

aff....the other half "THINKS" he can do this repair....and, if we actually had the TIME, he probably could...
HOWEVER - I have owned my house for 19 years now:
the closet in the kids' room was started in 1997.... the main bathroom was started in December of 2008.... the plans for our addition were originally rendered in 2002 (this one is in a snafu with our local government for the time being).... the front step repair was started in 2001.... the pine tree that fell in March remains in the spot it fell.... the playset my father ordered for the kids is still only half done - it came in April of 2003...
Do you catch my drift?
That's not against him, by the way, or me either - but we end up with weekends so full of things to do with the kids (as it should be for my way of thinking), that by the time we have a chance to even THINK about doing one of these projects - it's already 8 o'clock Sunday night....
It's either getting repaired by them or it's going to be replaced....
Also, we do not have the list of repairs yet - I'm thinking they need to replace at least one of the axles as we noticed some bending....guess we'll find out soon enough....
My last episode with any car insurance was in 1991...they totalled my Honda and actually gave me more than blue book value....

Chriisy, it might be worth hunting up your policy, some things like that are insured based on an agreed amount when the depreciation and wear and tear will vary a great deal. If you have it that way you might come out a little better. It's worth checking into.

Crissy: I totally hear ya on hubby NOT finishing things. Our house is SO needing repair, but of course now he has a good "excuse" being cancer-stricken even though he has lots of energy. The biggy is always NO $$ to finish any thing. I hope you get it all figured out.

Not finishing home projects is common in the construction field. I think it is a mindset that is generally unalterable.

LOL...true 71....
we have all good intentions....but then recitals, racing, scouts, ER visits, etc always seem to get in the way ; )
I have the policy right at my fingertips, Crit....I do know that they said this will go under comprehensive, not collision.....and our deductible was less for that...
we shall see what Monday brings as i in no way expect to hear from them on the weekend...
