When the Dad was still driving the Big Truck we came through the Pocono area at the right time to see a semi-tractor bobtail race once. Some real classy lookin' trucks, but the one i remember best was this privateer driving an old, '71 or so White cabover with the goofiest looking plastic bubble completely covering the grill area. From windshield to bumper. Wish i could find a photo, no luck so far though. Apparently thought it would help the aerodynamics quite a bit but that didn't stop him from running around dead last, laps down. Bit off the subject, but it reminds me of a later race we saw at 'Dega where ol' DW in his last season lost the draft and our whole section took to doing a wave when he putted past 3/4 of a lap down.............  |
